A rare Thai 10-baht coin minted in 1990 has sold at auction for an incredible 2.54 million baht—more than 250,000 times its original face value. Only 100 coins from this special edition were produced, making it exceptionally scarce and highly desirable among collectors.

The auction opened at 300,000 baht and attracted 52 bids before reaching its final price. The result highlights how rarity, historical significance, condition, and collector demand can dramatically increase the value of an ordinary-looking coin.

Although the coin’s face value is just 10 baht, its limited mintage and connection to Thailand’s numismatic history have made it a prized collectible. For coin enthusiasts, discoveries like this are a reminder that valuable treasures can sometimes be hiding in the most unexpected places.
