Pattaya Places Soi 6, Soi 6/1 and Soi 7 Off-Limits to U.S. Navy Personnel

Local authorities introduce temporary restrictions during the USS Abraham Lincoln’s port visit to Chon Buri from September 2–6.

Pattaya authorities have designated Soi 6, Soi 6/1 and Soi 7 as restricted areas for U.S. Navy personnel during the USS Abraham Lincoln’s scheduled port visit to Chon Buri from September 2 to 6.

More than 5,000 U.S. Navy personnel are expected to visit the province during the port call. Approximately 3,000 are estimated to travel to Pattaya, with many expected to stay overnight.

In addition to the restricted entertainment areas, Navy personnel will not be permitted to enter cannabis shops or pharmacies. They will also be prohibited from participating in water-based activities during the visit.

Personnel may visit Pattaya’s Walking Street but will be required to leave the area by 2:00 a.m.

Local authorities have called on hotels, restaurants, transport operators and entertainment businesses to charge visitors fairly and avoid unreasonable price increases. Businesses have also been instructed to strictly prevent sexual exploitation and ensure that no person under the age of 18 is involved in any illegal activity.

The temporary measures are intended to support public safety, maintain order and ensure that the large-scale international visit is managed responsibly.
